LONDON - DECEMBER 19, 2006 - CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. (CBL), a leading international provider of data recovery services, continued to make data recovery services more accessible and more widely available to consumers and enterprises in 2006 with expansion and partnership initiatives around the world.
This year, CBL began offering customers suffering data loss complimentary professional packaging and shipping for their affected laptops and disk drives through the national network of The UPS Store and participating Mail Boxes Etc. retail locations in the United States. This initiative was later rolled out in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada.
Along with the service, CBL's free evaluation, free quotation, and "No Data, No Charge" service guarantee means North American, UK and Irish customers only pay for the successful recovery of their data.
CBL was also selected as the data recovery services partner for HP in Australia, China, India, Singapore and Taiwan. HP Service Centre and HP Contract Centre agents now refer HP customers to CBL for data recovery services when data residing on failed hard drives, tapes and other storage media is inaccessible.
"Businesses and consumers are more data-dependent then ever, but many don't know what to do when they lose data or where to turn for help. With one month still to account for, CBL has experienced global double-digit growth in recoveries performed," says Bill Margeson, president and CEO, CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. "Partnerships such as the ones forged with HP and UPS make access to data recovery services easier for businesses and consumers alike, helping them cope with data loss disasters and getting back on the road again to business continuity."
The success of the CBL Data Recovery Advantage (DRA) Partner Program in Australia helped fuel CBL's growth and necessitated the expansion of its facility in Brisbane. In 2006, 30 per cent of all jobs received were submitted by resellers. In Australia, the CBL DRA reseller community grew by 50 per cent.
There was no time to Samba in Brazil as CBL's operations were kept busy recovering lost data for consumers, SMB, enterprise and government agencies. The past year also witnessed CBL's expansion to new countries including Switzerland (Zurich), France (Paris), and Buenos Aires (Argentina), as well as continued growth in existing markets including the United Kingdom (London), Munich (Germany), and the Caribbean (Barbados). CBL also expanded its global corporate headquarters in Markham.
With the evolution and pervasiveness of data storage technology today, the threat of data loss is greater and affects a broader array of computer users.
"The introduction of new recording technologies has increased the storage capacity of many hard drives and means more information on the failed hard drive of a server can be affected by a single data loss incident," adds Margeson. "Add to that the popularity of consumer devices that house digital photos and music, such as iPods, and there is no shortage of situations where important data could be lost."
There are a myriad of ways that data can be lost from a computer hard drive. When it comes to physical damage, fire and flood, Mother Nature leads the way. However, user behavior or accidents such as dropping a laptop or failing to protect a computer system from viruses and spyware remain very common.
